Meeting with the members of the eighth and ninth parliamentary Commissions at Palazzo San Giorgio
20/09/2018
The maritime cluster of Genoa and Savona was united in presenting the
members of the eighth and ninth parliamentary Commissions at Genoa with an
analysis of damage resulting from the closure of the A10 motorway, the blockage
of railway traffic and congestion on the highways. It also supplied an indication
of the average increase in journey times for the 4,000 heavy goods vehicles which
make 8,000 trips per day.
The costs of reorganising the terminals to accommodate new road and
railway accessibility were also presented at the meeting with the parliamentarians,
along with the costs being borne by ship owners in maintaining services to and
from Genoa/Savona, costs borne by dispatchers and agents, and the port labour
costs being incurred. These included an alarming statistic: in the first 15 days
of September, the revenue from port taxes to the State has already dropped by 35%.
